The rugged Coastal Mountains with fjords reaching deep into the mainland and a maze of islands typify Canada’s west coast. Ancient forests with giant trees, the rich variety of marine life all wait to be explored. The magnificent Pacific Rim National Park provides protection for substantial rain forests and an amazing marine environment on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Trails under giant cedars lead down to the beaches. Tofino, a former fishing village, offers whale and bear watching excursions.

A large mountain spine runs almost the entire length of the Island and breaks up into long mountain fjords along its West Coast. Strathcona Provincial Park, located in the center of the Island offers beautiful campgrounds and a large choice of hiking trails.
